Meet Mouse

Photos don’t quite do him justice, and he’s got plenty of personality to complement his looks.

Mouse has experience with both amateurs and professionals, with show miles in the UK up to 1 meter (3’3). He’s shown indoors and also been cross country, splashing through water and taking on more solid and imposing obstacles.

Since July 2024, I've had him in training with Amy Carnet, a UK professional rider who specializes in producing horses for American clients. â€‹â€‹With some stateside experience under his relatively low-mileage belt, he’ll be a packer at 2’6-3ft. Plus he has a lovely floaty trot that’s sure to hold its own in good company in the hack.

He’s lived on a working farm, so he’s used to big tractors and noisy machinery. His barn aisle has been known to be “swept” with a leaf blower. Before I bought him, I was told he was the only horse who didn’t need to move during the excavation and installation of an in-ground trampoline in the adjacent property.

While certainly amateur-friendly, I think Mouse will really thrive in a program with professional support while he’s still learning the American job. I’ve personally proven he’s rideable by someone who is rusty and unfit, but he is inherently a bit lazy and will look for ways to avoid working harder than absolutely necessary. (For example, if I start mentally doing my shopping list while cantering a circle, we’re probably going to fizzle into an ugly trot.) You need to keep on riding if you want the best out of him—and when you get it, he looks pretty super!

Mouse is an easy keeper with no maintenance or prep required. He’s good for the farrier, dentist, to load, braid, and clip. He needs the occasional reminder to be polite and self-aware on the ground as he’s big and very interested in food-related opportunities. He’ll give you a grumpy face if you pull him away from a snack, but he falls in line quickly after any firm reminders about manners.

Mouse is open to vetting and has recent x-rays available from July 2024 as well as November 2021. He has had sarcoids successfully treated.
I'm able to help with all aspects of global transport.
